Photo recap for early 2010

Wow, the last few weeks I shot more photos (and learned more) than in a whole year, at least that’s how it feels.
First and foremost I got a new lens for my birthday. The Canon EF-S 18-200mm 3.5-5.6 IS. This was meant as a replacement for the rather basic 18-55mm that came with my 400D [...]

Aachen Open 2010 – It’s gonna be legen… dary!

This is just a reminder that Aachen Open, a German speedcubing competition, will take place again next year. More precisely on January 16/17, 2010. What’s even better is the huge number of registered participants and the new venue for the competition. Since the last place became quite crowded (and began to smell after about 2 [...]

Spring: A photographer’s best friend

Yep, it’s time for another photo-only post. Enjoy!

By the way, you should try the Eifelsteig.

Almost Summer

With already two full short-trouser-days this year, summer should be right around the corner. As I’ve got nothing else to write I’m gonna post a few photos again, from the walks we took over the last few weeks.

The semester starts next week, but I’m hoping to keep up the regular walks around Aachen.

Wanted: Blue sky, green leaves

When I was younger I hated the summer (or let’s say I preferred winter). That was because in winter you had a reasonable explanation why you would sit in front of your PC all day long instead of going outside to play with the other kids or generally to “get some fresh air”. Now that [...]

Aachen Open 2009

Speedcubing is something that has been gaining considerable popularity over the last 2 years. Just recently Pro7, a big TV station in Germany, did a short piece (Part 1, Part 2) (between “how to open a bra” and “how not to get a cold”) about fw and a few friends of him, calling him the [...]

SS08 approaching

The next semester is approaching (in fact: it starts tomorrow). I just recently finished all my exams for the last semester and was really happy with the 4 days of not having to worry about learning for the next one ;). Anyway, I’m glad the lectures start again since I’ll have much more freedom now [...]

vpnc 0.5.1

I had vpnc 0.4.0 running until now (frankly because it worked and 0.5.0 didn’t when I first installed it via portage). Since I was on that shaky WiFi-connection for the last semester I was accustomed to my connection dropping quite often. Now that I am running on DSL (which doesn’t even have a 24h-reconnect) the [...]

(Some) technology sucks (big time)

Sorry in advance, but right now I have the feeling that if I don’t rant a little bit I’m gonna burst. “Technology sucks”, sometimes.
First of all there is the “it was fine before but you just _had_ to ‘improve’ it, didn’t you?” kind of suckage (nevermind, I just made that word up). That’s when certain [...]
